Froglet

One of our tadpoles has grown front legs and is looking more like a froglet (although it still has to lose its tail).  The colour of this one has changed and it has turned a green colour.

It spends a lot of time floating on top of the water and finds it hard to swim on the bottom like the others.  We have a big rock in the tank that it can climb up on, but it doesn't seem interested just yet.

We have organised a frog tank that we can put it into, but we don't think it's ready just yet.

Tadpoles in Room 4

The tadpoles are swimming and some are hiding under the rock.
These are the Room 4 tadpoles. Marika got the tadpoles for us from his uncle's place in the country. We are interested in tadpoles because we are learning about life cycles in science.

We have ten tadpoles and they are all different sizes. Most of them have back legs already. Sean found a rock to put in the tank so that when they develop their lungs they will be able to sit on the rock and breathe.

We tried feeding them cooked lettuce leaves, from Olivia-Rose's garden, but they didn't seem interested. Ryan brought along some goldfish food in the shape of a ball, but the tadpoles had trouble eating them because their mouths were too small.

Cameron brought some goldfish flakes AND the tadpoles went crazy and loved eating them.  So far the tadpoles are all growing well but we have noticed that they sleep at different times (usually during the day).  We are excited to find out what type of frogs they will turn into.  We have another tank we will use when the tadpoles turn into frogs.

You are welcome to come and look at our tadpoles.  We are enjoying learning about them.   :)
In this photo you can see a little bit of the tadpole's legs.  We are waiting for the front legs to develop and their tails to get shorter.
