Lots of people in New Zealand have dogs. There are many different breeds of dogs around the world. Different breads suit different people.

Dogs definitely make the best pet.

Firstly dogs help blind people this can be good because blind people cannot see and dogs will help them walk around.

Secondly dogs will eat leftovers. This is good because you do not need to buy food and it saves money.

Finally dogs can be trained easily. This is good because people can train dogs to play games like fetch.

Different types of dogs can attack people and get hurt. Dogs are the most popular pet in New Zealand. Dogs can come in different sizes and different colours. Other pets in New Zealand like cats, fish and turtles. Dogs do not make the best pet.

Firstly dogs chase cars and other animals. They can run on the road and get run over. This can make an accident and people can get hurt.

Secondly dogs bark a lot they wake people up in the middle of the night people can’t get to sleep.

Finally dogs need to have proper fences or they can run away then people need to find them and then you pay to get them back from the pound I strongly believe that dogs do not make the best pet because they can chase cars bark a lot and need proper fences.

Pigs make the best pet by Emma

 

There are lots of species of pigs in the world. Pigs can come in different sizes and shapes. Most pigs are used on farms, but some are pet pigs. Why wouldn’t you want a fluffy little piglet running around in your house?

Pigs definitely make great pets.

Firstly, pigs are naturally clean. This means that people will save money on their water bills because pigs won’t need baths or showers. Also, it will save people’s time because they can be doing fun things instead of washing the pigs.

Secondly, pigs eat scraps. This is great because you won’t need to spend money on food. Also when there is food that people don’t want the pig will gobble it all up.

Finally pigs aren’t aggressive. This is good because if children got close to a pig then the pig wouldn’t hurt them. Also, they won’t fight with other pigs.

I strongly believe that pigs make great pets because they are naturally clean, eat scraps and aren’t aggressive.

Planets by Sophie

The sun is the centre of the solar system. The planets move around the sun in different ways. The planets orbit around the sun because the sun’s gravity is so strong it can pull all the planets to go around it.

There are eight planets in the solar system three of them have been made into descriptions.

Mercury is the closest planet to the sun, and is the smallest in the solar system. Its surface is covered with craters that have holes, asteroids made those holes. It is 2,440km wide and has got no moons. Mercury can reach up to 840 degrees in the day and -200 degrees at night. 

 

Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system and is the 6^th planet from the sun. It is a gas giant and has rings made out of millions of ice crystals that can be as big as a house. It has sixty three known moons and the biggest is named Titan. Saturn is not a peace full planet it has got lots of wind storms.

 

Mars is the 2nd smallest planet in the solar system and is the 4^th from the sun. It has got 2 moons named Phobos and Deimos. Mars takes 686.98 days to orbit the sun. Its gravity is very weak and has got huge Volcanoes. Mars is a rusty red planet and was a roman god of war.

Planets have been around for thousands of years. They can be all different sizes, colours, shapes and temperatures. All the planets orbit the sun. A few planets have been visited by robots and cameras, but only Earth has human beings and animals.

The solar system has 8 planets.

Mercury is made of rock and dark orange lava. Iron is also what the core is made of. It is the closest planet to the sun which makes it as hot as an oven! The distance between Mercury and the sun is 58,000 million km. It is a very tiny planet that is smaller than Earth’s moon. Mercury has been visited by robots and machinery but people will never go there.

 

Uranus is made of blue gas with tiny ice rings. 27 moons are on Uranus. It is the 7^th closest planet to the sun which is 2,870,972,200 km away. It is the third biggest planet which is 47,150 km wide. Uranus takes 84 Earth years to orbit the sun. Uranus can’t be seen from Earth without a telescope.

 

Mars is made of red rock with the highest mountains in the solar system! Mars is shaped like an egg. It has two moons called Phobos and Deimos. Like all the planets, Mars orbits the Sun. It can be seen with the naked eye. Mars takes 1 year and 9 months to get to from Earth.

Scientists believe there are more planets around a different star in space somewhere. They reckon there might be another earth we can live on.

There are eight planets; some are made of iron, gas, fire and rock.

Mercury is grey, the smallest and the closest planet to the sun. Orbiting the sun is what it does. The planet Mercury is a sphere made of iron. Its name is named after the winged messenger of the Roman Gods. The planet Mercury is very small that it’s smaller than earth’s moon. Mercury has no moons.

 

Uranus is bluey green. It was discovered on the 13^th of March 1781. The planet is the 2^nd last planet away from the sun. It has rings that people can’t see. The planet orbits the sun. Uranus is the 3^rd biggest planet in the solar system. (25,362km)

Mars is called the red planet because it is red. The planet has volcanoes, a hard dessert and a rocky surface. The distance from the sun is 227,900,000. It has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. It takes 6 months to travel to mars. Mars has a face. About 50 space probes have gone to Mars.

Dogs do not make the best pet by Zack

In New Zealand many people have pets, most commonly cats and dogs. There are many breeds, of dogs, some of which are banned in other countries. Dogs definitely do not make the best pet.

Firstly dogs chase cars and other animals. They can get run over and damage cars. Dogs can severely injure another pet and it costs lots of money for the owner to go to the vet and help the pet.

Secondly, dogs can ruin your carpet. They eat chocolate and vomit on it. They also track muddy footprints through the house. This can be very hard to clean.

Finally, dogs hurt other animals and can kill them. Dogs can kill native birds. Those birds can then become extinct.

I believe dogs do not make the best pet because they chase cars, ruin your carpet and hurt other animals.

Firstly dogs can do lots of tricks. They can shake hands, jump up and play games. Dogs are very playful and loyal friends. If you like playing games a dog would be perfect for you.

Secondly dogs help blind people. Dogs are great at it.  They know exactly where they are going. They always help them cross roads.

Finally dogs eat leftovers. If you do not like to waste food or cannot afford to it’s a great alternative. This is a great example on how you can save money.

The Duathlon by Hainal

On Wednesday the 20^th of February we had the duathlon. The senior school went to the duathlon at Anzac square. We put our bikes and scooters at Anzac square. I had a label on my t- shirt and a mark on my hands. I did non competitive. For the race we had to run 1 lap then we scooted two laps, then we ran 1 more lap. At the end of the race I gave my label to Brigid .Next we crossed the road and went to class to do maths. I felt happy because it was finished and I was tired from the duathlon.

Many people in New Zealand have pets. The most common pets are cats and dogs. Many people prefer dogs because they are more playful. Dogs’ help you keep your heart rate up which is a good thing if you enjoy exercise.

Firstly dogs can cuddle up with you when you are sad. If someone in your family died a dog would cuddle up with you and make you feel better. If you broke your arm a dog would sit on your lap and cuddle up in it. If your best friend was moving a dog would try to make you feel better by snuggling with you.

Secondly dogs don’t always shed. Different kinds of dogs don’t always shed so they can cuddle up on the couch and it gives you time to relax. If you like your couch and your dog does too then you can both spend time together on the couch and you won’t need to worry about cleaning up. Dogs like the Miniature Schnauzer don’t shed so that is a good thing if you want a dog that does not shed.

Finally dogs can play fun games. If you like to be fit you have to get a dog. They can play fetch and it is lots of fun for you and your dog. If you are lonely and you like to play tug-a-war you can buy a hard tough rope and play it with your dog. Dogs enjoy chasing there owners (in a good way) that will help you keep your heart rate up.

I strongly believe that dogs make the best pet because they keep you fit, give you time to relax and cuddle up with you when you’re sad.

In New Zealand there are many breeds of dogs that have different personalities. Dogs are one of the most popular animals in the world.

I definitely think that dogs make the best pet because they love and care for you.                                                                                

Firstly, dogs are always loyal. They love their owners and stay with them at all times. Dogs do not scratch when you tell them not to.

Secondly, dogs clearly can save lives. When the police are looking for someone the dog will find them and save the person’s life. If a person is drowning a dog would save their life as well.

Finally dogs have great smelling senses. They have 65% more smelling senses than humans. When a burglar is around the dog will smell them and bark.

I strongly believe that dogs make the best pet because they are very loyal, can save lives and have great smelling senses. You can see why you want one.

DOGS DO NOT MAKE THE BEST PET

In New Zealand most families and couples have had dogs. There are many breeds of dogs that are very dangerous, most people suggest that Pitbulls and Rottweilers are the most aggressive dogs in the world. Dogs definitely do not make the best pet.

Firstly, dogs can bite. In most dog attacks, children and adults have been bitten or have been killed by dangerous dogs. Like bull terriers, Saint Bernards, Great Dane’s and many others.

Secondly, dogs cost lots of money for such things as; food grooming supplies, toys, a bed, collar, leashes and vet bills. It also costs lots of money for the dog to stay at a kennel when you’re on holiday.

 Finally, dogs poop on the lawn and in the house. This can get very annoying if the owners got new carpet. Also you have to pick it up and no one wants to do that.

Because they’re so dangerous I definitely believe that dogs no not make the best pet. They can cost lots of money, can poop on the lawn and in the house, can bite and injure adults and children.

There are eight planets in the solar system they have all been around for a long time. They are all different because some are circle and they are all different colours.

The three planets in this report are Mars, Uranus and Mercury.

 Mars

Mars is a rocky dry dusty planet. The colour is a red brown colour. There are volcanoes on Mars. It is the second smallest planet in the solar system. It is also the forth planet from the sun. It has a face that was found in 1976 by Viking one. Mars has the mars rover on it. It was named Mars after a Roman god of war.

 

 

Uranus

Uranus is a pale blue colour. The shape is a circle with rings around it .It is sideways and it has a rocky core. It has 27 moons and it is 2,877 million km away from the sun. it is the 3^rd  biggest planet. Uranus was found by William Herschel on the 13^th of March 1781.

 

 

Mercury

Mercury is circle shaped. The colour is grey. It takes 10-15 years to cross the sun. It is dry like the middle of a gobstopper. It’s the 2^{nd smallest} planet in the solar system. It has no moons It is imposable to live there because there is no air or water. Mercury is the closest to the sun.
