The Run Of Fun by Sam

On Wednesday the 20th of February we had the  Duathlon at Anzac Square. Before school my bike chain kept falling off at home. I couldn’t use my bike. Janice helped me get some shorts because I was in my uniform.

At Anzac Square I got a label. I got an R for run on my right hand and B for bike on my left hand.  I did 3 laps of running and 3 laps of biking. I asked Keegan if I could borrow his bike and Liam let me use his helmet.

We went back to school.

I felt good when I finished.

Ready, Set, Go by Taylia

On the 20th of February the Sacred Heart senior and middle school had their duathlon at Anzac Square.

First the Year 7 and 8s had their duathlon. Then the Year fives and sixes lined up. My heart was racing and all of a sudden somebody yelled, ‘‘Go.’’ I took off to run my first lap. I ran so far I was so puffed when I finished it. I got one red mark on my arm. After that I ran up the steps to get my scooter.

Quickly I ran to the steps holding the scooter in my arms and when I got to the concrete I took off.  I was racing. I did one lap and got one red mark on my arm and then I went round again and got another mark.

Then I ran up the steps with my scooter and put it on the grass. I took off for my final lap. I ran and ran and ran and finished the final lap. I ran up through the cones to the finish line. Brigid took my sticker and put it in the book I had lots of FUN!!

On Wednesday the 20th of February the middle and senior school had the duathlon at Anzac Square.

First we watched the Year 7 and 8s race. We cheered very loudly for them. Then it was our turn to race. I was in a competitive race.

First the Year 5s and 6s got to the starting line and lined up. Then we ran a lap around the footpath of Anzac Square.

After we ran a lap and got a mark on our arm, we ran up the stairs to get our bikes. I had to bike in the middle of Anzac Square. When I had completed two laps I felt like I couldn’t do it, but I kept on going.

After I got three marks on my left arm, I put my bike where the cones were, and I ran down the stairs and ran another lap on the footpath.

When I was on my last lap I had stitch but I just kept on running until it was over. But first I had to get to the finish line to give my sticker to Brigid and Mr A at the desk.

At the end of the race I was very tired but happy that it was over! I liked the duathlon because I had lots of fun.

What A Tiring Day by Caitlin

What a tiring day

On Wednesday the 20th of February Years 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8s of Sacred Heart Primary went to Anzac Square for the duathlon.

First the Competitive people started, then it was the Non-Competitive people’s go. I was one of them.

For the Non-Competitive we had to run one lap and bike two laps and run another lap. The others had to run one lap and bike 3 laps around Anzac square and then run another two rounds.

After all that hard work we watched the Year 4s do their Duathlon. They were pretty good for the first time in the middles.

Finally it was morning tea time so we all went back to school and had our morning tea. I felt exhausted, tired and great that I finished.

First we ran 1 lap. Next we got our bikes and did 2 laps around Anzac. Then we did one more lap of running. Finally we made it to the finish line and put our stickers in the book.

After that we sat down with the class. Next we went back to school. I was really, really tired after all that running and biking.

On Wednesday 20th of February at Anzac Square we had the senior and middle school duathlon.

First I ran a lap around Anzac Square and I got a line on my arm. I am not sure who put the line on my arm.

Then I biked two times around Anzac Square on the grass. I got two lines on my other arm. Coni’s mum put those on my arm.

Next I ran one more time around Anzac Square and Lylekah put a line on my arm.

Finally I crossed the finish line and when I got there I was exhausted!

I felt proud of myself when I was done. I thought the running was harder than the biking.

Run, Run, Run by Josh

On Wednesday 20th of February the Year 4’s and up did the duathlon at Anzac Square. First the year 7’s and 8’s raced and they looked really tired.

Then it was my race. We got markers on our arm every time we went past the markers. First I ran one lap around Anzac Square and got a mark on my arm. I ran up the stairs and ran for my bike.

I biked three laps around the inside of Anzac Square. My back was so sore I felt like my back was getting shot and I was so tired. Next I flew my left leg over my bike seat and jumped off my bike and I unclipped my helmet and whacked my bike and helmet on the ground.

I just ran as fast as I could and I got the stitch really badly. I did not stop but I could not feel my body at all. Finally I reached the finish line. At the end I felt like I was going to explode.

The Fast Kids by Brylie

On Wednesday the 20th of February the Year 4s and up went to Anzac Square to do the duathlon. I didn’t do it because had a broken arm, so I was the photo person.

First I went over to the markers to take some photos while Year 4s and up had a little bit of food.

Then the Year 7s and 8s started running, so I took pictures of them. After that I found a puppy, so it took pictures with me.

Next it was us biking and running so I got a whole bunch of people on their bikes. They were doing very well at the duathlon.

Finally it was finished. So we went and had morning tea.

I felt like my fingers were dead because I took so many photos of the Year 4 and 5s, also the seniors at the duathlon.

Zip, Zip Duathlon by Ainemaria

 Zip, Zip Duathlon

On Wednesday at Anzac Square the middle and senior syndicate had their school duathlon.

First we had to run around the outside of Anzac Square once just to warm up. After we ran to the first corner we started to get faster.

Next I went up the steps to get my bikes I started to bike around the inside of Anzac Square twice. I knew the amount of laps we did because helpers put stripes on our arms.

Then when I was finished I put my bike away and started to run my last lap around Anzac Square I started to get tired then started to walk I knew I had to do my best so I started to run again and was getting closer to the finish line and …..”YES” I said I finally got there.

When I got there I gave Brigid and Mr A my sticker then went back to where I am to sit to watch the Year 4s do their race.

After what I had just done I felt proud of what I had just done!

Ready, Set, Go by Emma

Ready Set Go!

On the 20th February was our middle and senior syndicate Duathlon. We had special stickers that had our names, house colours and if we were non-competitive or competitive.

First we had one lap around the outside of Anzac Square. Each lap we did we got marks for it. Miss Field said Ready, Set, GO.

Next we had to rush around to get our bikes and put on our helmets. I raced around on the grass of Anzac Square 3 times. After my biking I had to do two more laps running around the grass square

Finally I jogged into the gap marked with cones and up to Brigid and Mr A. They put my sticker into the book and I saw that I was 7th in the competitive 5/6 girls race!

After we got back to our spot on the grass we got to eat our snacks and water that we brought while we were catching our breath back.

When the year 4s finished their race we went over back to school to have morning tea and put our bikes on the rack.

Puffing and Rushing by Vanessa S

On Wednesday the 28th of February everyone but the juniors went to the school duathlon at Anzac Square. At first the seniors had their turn. Then it was our turn.

First we ran around the concrete path one time and that took about three minutes. After that we clipped our helmets on and jumped on our bikes. We had to bike around the field three times. My legs were so numb that I could not feel them. That took four or five minutes. Then I had to run around Anzac Square two times. That took FOREVER!!!

Finally I was done. I ran up to Brigid and took the sticker off my chest and she put it in a book that showed your place. The sticker said your name and if you were doing competitive or non-competitive.

I felt proud of myself when the race was finished.
