Summer Tournament - T-Softball

On Thursday 24 March the Year 5 and 6 students went to Morrison Park to play T-Softball.  They played eight or nine games each and had a great time.  Sacred Heart entered three teams and they all played really well. Miss Galbraith and Mr Gander were really impressed with the behaviour of the Sacred Heart Teams and felt proud to be with them for the day.  Thank you to the parents who came and watched and a special thank you to the parents who helped look after teams for the day, transported students and umpired! (Marie, Gina, Megan, Rachel and Jo).

St Patrick's Day

Yesterday was St Patrick's Day and we dressed up as green leprechauns.  We all brought along a non-perishable food item to donate to the St Vinnie's food bank.  Lots of food has been distributed to people after the earthquake so they need more food at this time.

Look at all the food we donated!! Well done Sacred Heart.
We look fantastic in our green gear!

Red and Black Day

We held a Red and Black mufti day at school today to show our support for the people in the earthquake in Canterbury.  Students were very generous and Room 4 managed to donate almost $80.  The whole school raised more than $540, which is a great achievement.  Well done Sacred Heart!!

Christchurch Students

We have been lucky enough to have some students from Christchurch in our class for the past week.  They have escaped the aftershocks and taken refuge in Timaru.  Some of the students are here until their school reopens and their houses get power and water back on.  Others have decided they might stay here a bit longer, particularly if their houses have been damaged in the earthquake.

We are enjoying having them.  This is what some of them have said about being at Sacred Heart:

"I really enjoyed my time here at SHPS. I made heaps of friends and the teachers are really fun.  There are heaps of fun games to play and it was fun having the tadpoles and learning about them." (Grace)

"I like it here because there are cool kids that are nice.  There are 5 minute brain breaks and I think they are a great idea.  Also, I like being away from the earthquakes and I like feeling really safe." (Georgia)

Froglet fatality

At school on the 21.2.2011 our froglet Comet died. It was Thomas’ duty to make a headstone for Comet out of stone and red vivid.
Now we have one froglet, Clash.
