Planets by Brylie

Scientists believe there are more planets around a different star in space somewhere. They reckon there might be another earth we can live on.

There are eight planets; some are made of iron, gas, fire and rock.

Mercury is grey, the smallest and the closest planet to the sun. Orbiting the sun is what it does. The planet Mercury is a sphere made of iron. Its name is named after the winged messenger of the Roman Gods. The planet Mercury is very small that it’s smaller than earth’s moon. Mercury has no moons.

Uranus is bluey green. It was discovered on the 13th of March 1781. The planet is the 2nd last planet away from the sun. It has rings that people can’t see. The planet orbits the sun. Uranus is the 3rd biggest planet in the solar system. (25,362km)

Mars is called the red planet because it is red. The planet has volcanoes, a hard dessert and a rocky surface. The distance from the sun is 227,900,000. It has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. It takes 6 months to travel to mars. Mars has a face. About 50 space probes have gone to Mars.
