Dogs make the best pet by Emma

In New Zealand lots of families have dogs. There are many breeds of dogs that suit different people. Dogs are the most common pets in New Zealand. Dogs can come in any size, shape or colour.

Firstly, dogs cheer up lonely people. If elderly people were lonely a dog would snuggle up to them. Children who don’t have siblings are lonely but a dog will play with them.

Secondly, dogs can save lives. Recently, a lady was drowning but her dog jumped in the water and dragged her out. When there was a fire the dog barked and woke the owner up.

Finally, dogs are very loyal. Dogs will do anything for their owners and will never treat them badly. Dogs love their owners and will stay with them all their lives.

I strongly believe that dogs make the best pets because they cheer up lonely people, save lives, are very loyal and with their love and loyalty, it is easy to see why so many people have a dog for a pet.
